Claudia Martinez Mansell

Claudia together with Abu Wassim has set up Greening Bourj Al Shamali, and works as a bridge to the opportunities available to push forward the work being done in the camp.

When she is not working in Bourj Al Shamali, Claudia is a humanitarian worker and independent researcher whose work is concerned with protracted crises and humanitarian landscapes. Born in London in 1975, she grew up in Madrid and has worked for over ten years with the United Nations in international development and humanitarian assistance.

Claudia’s creative projects are influenced by her professional work and center on critical examinations of the landscapes created by humanitarian intervention. The theoretical, philosophical, political and spatial questions around such oppositions as formality-informality, inclusion-exclusion, and permanence-transitoriness are of cardinal significance in her work.
