We finally did it! The map was officially launched on 25th January 2019 at Bourj Al Shamali’s Al Houla library and people LOVED the map! It was a really really great day and all of us who worked on the project were so chuffed to see the positive response.
We printed 2,000 copies and many people dropped by to get a copy of the map.
Mustapha gave a talk explaining the whole mapping process to around 40 people.
This was followed by many questions from a curious audience.
The elders did the fact-checking…. they did find one mistake, but they were impressed!
And people took their copies:
On the following days, the map started appearing on the walls of different shops and institutions around the camp, and it will be exciting to see what use is made of the map from now on!
And even the civil society/NGO delegation from Italy visiting Bourj Al Shamali is finally finding their bearings in the camp, thanks to the map!
Thank you all very much for your support and your patience. It took us some time, but we are all very happy with the final result.
